Learning Technology Development Officer
My role at Edge Hill University primarily involves working with academic staff to plan, deliver, maintain and manage programmes, and aspects of programmes, using online, mobile and classroom technologies.I advise and support staff on a one-to-one basis, for consultation, guidance and problem resolution. These conversations and requests may relate to use of the University's online learning environment, and more general educational technology use. My experience working in this area, my technical knowledge, and my awareness of the research and literature in the area enables me to give reliable advice to both academic teaching staff and faculty managers.I design and deliver sessions and create online resources, to introduce staff and student to aspects of technology enhanced learning, and to support them to use appropriate tools and technologies. Often this involves working collaboratively as a member of a multi-professional team, with librarians and academic staff. Examples include a session about how to present yourself online which has been presented to hundreds of students, and staff focused sessions on using 'Clicker'/voting systems, online tools for researchers, and using web feeds and social networks to keep your knowledge up-to-date.I represent the University in various regional, national and international forums related to eLearning and the use of learning technologies.
