I was hired by Solomon Software during their acquisition by Microsoft. My work as a QA team lead for a business critical Microsoft project, as an employee of Apriso, is the reason I was brought in. During this one year contract, I assisted in revising the test plan strategies, trained other QA resources on automation testing platforms and worked with Microsoft SQL Engineers on performance and tuning benchmarks for the ERP application.

Jerry Hill hired me with a title "QA Analyst", however he has a special style of management. As the Product Architect and Principal, Project Manager of the organization, whatever a specific project needed, in the way of requirements analysis, Design review, Test Plan preparation and execution, Documentation and Training; he delegated to me. Essentially he groomed me with mindset that I am building a career lifestyle and not working a job. The company developed bar-code middleware feeding data into database repositories, based on a unique set of customer requirements. An agile project methodology was utilized to customize the solution in 3-9 month lifecycles.Identified key metrics leading to improved project management, and effective implementation strategies. Prepared an implementation checklist, which included a completion audit at the end of each project to feed back into the checklist for continuous improvement. This meant lessons learned were not lost and instead added value for each future customer engagement.When I began this role, QA was considered a nuisance. I made it my main focus to influence the leaders to place a high importance on QA throughout the organization. By setting the example of following a continuous, process improvement track, preparing solid test plans and executing them, building solid metrics and demonstrating the power of capturing issues, starting from the business requirements and design phase; and collaborating with stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, we were able to transform the companies focus on QA as an integral part of its success.This focus on quality as part of the DNA of each team; was 1/3 of the decision tree, Microsoft included in their bid for a company to develop the middleware for the first 3-d barcodes utilized for licensing and tracking products through multiple distribution points world-wide. My presentation to Key stakeholders, led to a significant investment in the company.
