As a recent college graduate, I lack the number of years of experience that most companies ask for in their job descriptions. However, what I lack in experience, I will make up for with hard work, dedication, and coachability. With every job that I have worked in the past, I went into it with little to no experience in that job field, but ended up leaving with the highest title possible. In my job as a summer camp counselor and youth instructor at the Sewickley Valley YMCA, I started as a young teenager with minimum knowledge about how to lead a large group of children. By December of 2021 when I left the position, I was in charge of planning and running events for all of the 500+ kids and staff at camp. I started working at the Aebersold Student Recreation Center in Slippery Rock as a freshman in college with the title of front desk worker, having zero experience of working in a fitness enter or a customer service industry. Four years later when I graduated college, I had earned the titles of both facility supervisor and student manager and even wrote the training manual for future employees. Finally, when I was just 12 years old I started volunteering at my martial arts school, American Streetwise Karate, and helping to teach both kids and adult classes. By the time I left that school to start my own martial arts business, I had earned the title of assistant head instructor.I now co-run a small martial arts business. My responsibilities include teaching classes at night, managing our social media page, upkeep of our website, marketing, keeping track of financial records, and planning events including banquets, tournaments, and seminars. Currently as day jobs, I hold the positions of day-to-day substitute teacher at the North Allegheny School District and Moon Area School District (through Kelly Education Services) and front desk worker at the GreenTree Sportsplex. I am seeking a full-time job so that I can resign from the latter two positions.Starting something new and working hard to learn and grow is what I do. Although I may not have the years of experience that most companies are looking for, I feel that my strong enthusiasm, communication skills, and attention to detail along with my ability to be flexible and highly self-motivated give me confidence that I would be a good addition to any team.
