From the farm, to D.C., to Kansas City.In human services, education and community, my work has always been about applying strategic communications to make a positive difference in my community, my country and my world.Currently Executive Director at Community Assistance Council, the primary human services nonprofit for south Kansas City (about 1/4 of the city), providing emergency rent and utilities assistance, food and hygiene items and more to keep families housed, with basic services, food, and case management to help families move from crisis to stable to thriving. At CAC, manage operations, development, strategic direction and growth and responsible for all communications, strategic planning, community outreach, budgets, fundraising, events and more.• In six years, increased annual budget from $350,000 to $2 million, three to 11 full-time staff, none to a 4,000 contacts list, none to three annual events, two to 10 grant-funded programs• Create/maintain/distribute monthly e-newsletter and other email campaigns (Constant Contact), CRM (Little Green Light, transitioning to CitySoft), social media posts (mostly FB), all CAC printed materials (flyers, invites, reports, mostly in InDesign), forms (MS Office Forms), presentations (PowerPoint and Canva), news releases, serve as media contact• Redesigned/maintain CAC website (Wix, Weebly), updated CAC brand standards, wrote grants for operations and programs, wrote and distributed targeted annual campaign mailing to 800 potential donors• Created a south Kansas City Community Resources Fair with 40 partner organizations and 200 attendees• Represent/present about CAC to community meetings, elected officials, funders and othersMy superpowers are creating new things or events to address old problems, and writing/editing to the exact character count (looking at you grant applications!). Also, folks over 30 can do social media just fine thank you.Involved in south Kansas City activities, served on the Grandview C-4 Board of Education (president two years), Band Boosters (band mom forever), family first, at home in the kitchen and on the trivia team, there's a musical theatre song for every situation.
