- Develop, analyse and maintain power market models for SEM and I-SEM using PLEXOS to inform decision making at a strategic and tactical level within the organisation.- Provide grid input in to pre-construction, construction and assessment stages of projects including reviewing and assessing grid connections associated costs, assess and optimise grid opportunities to facilitate delivery of company business plan, negotiate connection terms with system operators and provide technical input to O&M team on grid related issues- Represent the company in meetings with external stakeholders and engage with regulators and system operators through on going consultations on ISEM, CRM, DS3 & grid connection policies.- Provide input in to key stakeholder grid committees including IWEA, ISEA and NIRIG- Member of ETIP SNET expert working group for Energy Storage & EirGrid/SONI Hybrid Unit Working Group.

- Manage the electrical, control and integration front end engineering design of a 330 MW Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) project through managing multiple third party consultants ensuring deliverable to an acceptable standard and are in line with strict deadlines and within budget- Develop internal PLEXOS model of existing Irish Single Electricity Market and future Integrated Single Electricity Market to analyse and determine optimum revenue streams for energy storage projects- Provide technical input to cross functional teams across a wide range of projects including battery storage, solar, wind and market and power system operation- Support the project team across multiple business streams including planning, project finance and investor engagement

- Project Manager for the design and construction elements of transmission projects-Review planning application drawings and perform detailed project design review to ensure compliance with EirGrid functional specifications and operational standards- Work collaboratively with relevant departments in EirGrid, ESBN and 3rd Party Developers to deliver transmission projects and generator and demand connections in line with EirGrid processes and functional requirements.-Ensure contestable projects are delivered are delivered in a manner that satisfies EirGrids requirements by reviewing detailed designs to ensure they meet EirGrids functional requirements and outline designs, onsite inspections and monitoring of construction progress for compliance with EirGrids standards- Prepare and issue Capital Approvals, Committed Project Parameters, Functional Specifications, Layout Drawing, Schematics and Single Line Diagrams for Capital Projects and IPP connections.- Provide technical direction and assistance across the organisation on own projects and to team members and junior staff and act as a team representative across internal and external working groups where required

National Control Centre

Certified to remotely operate and manage switching at 400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV on the Irish transmission system. Responsible for regulating voltages within tolerances, issuing dispatch instructions to maintain the system frequency within acceptable limits, managing work on the system and responding to system disturbances in real time.

- Responsible for providing functional specifications outlining operational requirements for a wide variety of projects including new substations, new transformer and capacitor connections, line uprates and busbar uprates at 400, 220 and 110 kV.- Performing substation design review to ensure operational standards and requirements are met. This includes interlocking conditions, position indication and remote control of items of plant, provision of significant alarms required to the National Control Centre (NCC)- Writing and preparing Operation Instructions for transmission stations, defining operational and ownership boundaries, outlining a safe switching procedure to isolate items of plant from the transmission station for maintenance- Operations Team Lead for EirGrid’s Offer Programme. Responsibilities include attending fortnightly team lead meetings, attending connection method meetings as required. Providing operational input in to connection methods. Allocation of resources within a team of engineers to ensure Operations reports are prepared in line with deadlines outlined through EirGrid’s Offer Programme. Technically analysing the operational feasibility of new connections with system security in mind. Consulting with other departments within operations and compiling final operations report outlining any operational complexities resulting in a new connection to the system. Representing company position and policies to external stakeholders.- Preparing various business policies, standards and processes including EirGrid’s first Transmission Plant Designation and Naming Standards policy and Policy on the installation of TSO RTUs for DSO connections and the use of mobile bays on the Transmission System. Contributor to EirGrid’s Busbar Configuration Policy, EirGrid’s Short Circuit Position Paper.- Contributor to numerous cross-functional groups including Station Reliability Group, Short Circuit Review Group and Busbar Configuration Group
