I lead a team in GHT’s Operations and Energy Services (OES) studio that optimizes the performance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in new and existing buildings. As Section Head of Commissioning and Building Operations Consulting, I work closely with facility owners, managers, and operators to solve problems, develop strategies for operational excellence, and provide commissioning services that focus on long-term performance goals.I advocate an approach to commissioning that is focused on leading a process, not just performing a task. To be successful, commissioning should begin in early project planning and continue through building operation, all in collaboration with development, design, construction, and operations teams. My approach to building operations consulting is also focused on teamwork. 40+ years of design and field experience in the built environment has taught me the importance of working in partnership with facility engineering staff. As a licensed operating engineer with three years of building operations experience, I understand the challenges and pressures of the role.
