I am a Mechanical Engineer with many years experience. In recent years my roles have been centred on design and development of sub-sea control equipment for extraction of Oil and Gas, typically SDUs, UTAs, Umbilicals, Trees, SCMs, Test Rigs, HFL Deployment Frames, etc. for GE Drilling and Production.I development a new SDU for the Anadarko GC Field. From concept right through entire design cycle to production, including loads case analysis to DNV 2.7-3 and DNV 2.7-1Previous roles include MoD Land Systems Vehicle development (FRES, Soothsayer) and commercial Aerospace programmes (Boeing 787).My role at GDUK on FRES SV involved Systems Integration of equipment to be carried by various roles of the AFV. I was chiefly required to carry out trade studies into available Armoured Vehicle Launcher Bridge and Remotely Deployable Mine System options for the non-RB1 roles, then present a report for the MoD as part of the ITT submission. The main focus of the report was to satisfy the MoD that the later roles would be compatible with a Common Base Platform (CBP).Previous roles include FRES UV Programme at GDUK directing CAD effort and researching equipment options for various roles. I wrote Technical Data Pack documentation incl EMC, Ballistic, NBC, Mobility, Transportability, etc. and ICD’s. Platform Lead engineer for the Soothsayer programme at Thales. I worked with sub-system suppliers to determine optimum configurations, taking into account Human Factors, Power budgets, Weight, Cost, Environmental (e.g. shock and vibration protection) Operational evaluation (e.g. mast selection and rapid teardown timelines after performing ECM operations).Specialties: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Calculations, Technical Documentation, DFM, Best Practise, ProE, CREO, Catia 3DX, Solidworks, NX, Inventor, FEA, ANSYS.

I designed a transfer system to safely manoeuvre heavy pumps (700kg) into pump enclosures in a confined space. I created design calculations on Mathcad, wrote a test specification, had prototypes built, improved the design and performed full life testing to introduce it into production. Completed design reviews, design comparison scoring, risk assessments (HAZOP). Timescale from concept to successful delivery to customer was 6 months. -

Lead Mechanical EngineerGkn Aerospace Aug 2008 - Aug 2009Weston Super Mare, Somerset, United KingdomLead Mechanical Engineer on Boeing 787 Dreamliner programme. Generated documentation (ATP, QTP, QSAR, Product Specs, and Component Specs etc.) to RTCA DO-160 and EASA CS-25 requirements. Took products through development lifecycle: PDR and CDR, Safety-of-Flight testing into Qualification phase. Checked drawings for accuracy, content, suitable material and finish choices. Checked for galvanic and crevice corrosion risk; compliance with BS8888 (typical products: hydraulic or mechanical actuators and valves, carbon fibre composite valves, helicopter deck-locks). Checked tolerance stack-ups and geometrical tolerances were properly applied.
