As the Director of College Facilities my responsibilities were to maintain all aspects of the college facilities. With over 700,000 gross square feet ELAC is also one of the oldest Community Colleges in the state. East Los Angeles College is one of the largest of the nine-college district that comprise the Los Angeles Community College District. With over 700,000 gross square feet ELAC is also one of the oldest Community Colleges in the state. This dubious honor comes with a great deal of responsibility due to the age and history of the facility. The immediate workforce of the Physical Plant department is over 100 individuals, maintaining the campus that houses an annual student population ranging from 25,000 to 30,000 and over 700 Faculty and staff on the main campus as well as two satellite centers. As the Director of College Facilities I oversaw all Alteration and Improvements (A&I), installation, contracts, shipping/receiving, budgeting ($13,000,000 annual operating budget for Physical plant), payroll and the day-to-day operations of Custodial, Carpentry, Plumbing, Painting, Electrical, Electronics, Office Machine repair, HVAC, Computer repair and installation (LAN/WAN, Fiber optics and copper), Gardening and Landscaping for the 50 acre site.
