My role requires me to work directly with our customers across Australia and New Zealand to identify technical and operational issues, or new requirements and to propose the best overall solution utilising Cisco’s and our partners’ portfolio of products and services. As a Solution Architect in the Global Cloud Collaboration team, my role is to provide end-to-end solution design for the implementation and operation of service provider (cloud) hosted unified communications (UC) platforms (a.k.a Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution - HCS). Network Consulting Engineer for Cisco Advanced Services specialising in Data Center technologies.

As part of the Technology & Shared Services division within Telecom, the Technical Services Design team was responsible for designing any changes to Telecom's various service providing, and internal corporate networks. This included:- Data centres for both corporate and customer services - Infrastructure management services for exchanges & cell sites- Nationwide corporate network services (LAN, WAN, VoIP, VPN, Internet etc)The primary function of my role was to work with the project management office and with other designers to provide both high level design documentation for business case approval and detailed design documentation for Telecom's various implementation and operations teams. The high level design documentation included reviewing a projects proposed solution for operational impact on the network, providing a bill of materials and estimating implementation costs. The detailed design documentation included providing all necessary hardware configuration changes specifically firewall rules, routes, switch port and load balancer details for the implementation teams. As a senior member of the team I am the designated SME for all Online, Remote Access and Lawful Intercept queries. I am also available to provide any assistance to the junior members of the team and solution advice to other divisions. Working as the regional representative of a global IT communications team within Allied Domecq, my primary function was to manage, support and design improvements for LAN, WAN and RAS services as well as network security across all Allied Domecq offices, subsidiaries and joint ventures in the Asia Pacific region. Allied Domecq's WAN includes sites; Key projects I was involved in included implementing a managed MPLS-based & IPSEC-based WAN from AT&T to all sites across the region, replacing network firewalls with Cisco PIX hardware, implementing a new IPSEC VPN RAS solution and upgrading LAN switches.

This role involved working in the Customer Management Centre providing remote network support for Thus' corporate and business customers. Primarily these were customers using Thus' new MPLS network. This network was designed to support multicast and DiffServ-based QoS throughout, utilising both Thus' metro fibre networks and wholesale BT circuits to deliver connectivity to the customer.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager, I was responsible for gathering pre-sales technical requirements from potential customers, then designing and implementing the IP-based remote CCTV surveillance system. This included specifying the WAN connectivity and required network equipment as well as the IP-based streaming video transceivers, CCTV cameras and recording devices. This role involved meeting with customers at their premises in order to accurately evaluate their surveillance & IP network requirements. As the onsite project manager I was responsible for dealing with all technical issues raised by contractors and customers during the installation and commissioning of a new system. This included prioritising work, overseeing cable runs and equipment locations. This role also included testing a completed system to both customer and internal specifications.

As the Senior NOC Engineer I was the escalation person for all customer and network-related faults raised to the NOC during business hours. The primary function of this role was to act as a mentor to the junior customer support engineers and provide them with technical & procedural training.This role involved being the primary point of contact within the customer services and core network teams for the Sales department for all technical inquiries.The Pre-Sales Engineering role required designing new MPLS-VPN based nation-wide WANs and incorporating customer requirements such as dynamic fail-over to ISDN or multi-homed Internet access for larger corporate customers
