Supported by The Rockefeller Foundation and managed by Pact, Smart Power Myanmar that seeks to transform the lives and economic potential of millions of people in rural Myanmar by linking economically viable and reliable mini-grids to local business and homes. Two-thirds of Myanmar has no reliable electricity, so we work to help unify the strategies and resources of a wide range of private developers, financing institutions, bi-lateral donors and government institutions to support policy changes, crowd in investment, mitigate risks and support the growth of demand for the productive us of electricity. Our active Founding Member Board includes The Rockefeller Foundation, Yoma Strategic Holdings, USAID, The World Bank and Shell.

Overall strategic and operational leadership and management for largest integrated development organizations in Myanmar, supporting 5 million beneficiaries in 16,000 communities in Myanmar with $90m in active development programs. Manage funds from diverse bi-lateral, multi-lateral and private sector donors. Strategic oversight and leadership of extensive community-based integrated development governance structures, including management of two unique community fund mechanisms (Village Development Funds in 4,000 communities, and Myanmar’s first Rural Energy Fund) in order to establish long-term solutions to major gaps in health, food security, water & sanitation, nutrition, rural electrification, natural resource management, income generation & small-and-micro business development. Catalyzed Pact’s first renewable energy programs.

Zambia 2008-2010 and Botswana 2010-2013. Over 5 years, responsible for overall programmatic and financial management of 16 distinct projects in two of PSI’s largest, most impactful and most efficient social marketing subsidiaries (average annual budget in Zambia: $20 million; in Botswana: $5m). Raised more than $80m in both countries from major donors including The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, KfW and CDC. Nationally-significant programs spanned HIV/AIDS, malaria, reproductive health and safe water health programmes; extensive field operations in remote areas of both countries. Highlights over 5 years included: development of PSI’s first adult male circumcision program; introducing 18 new branded products and services in both countries; and doubling the size of the “New Start” Voluntary Counselling and Testing programme, the second largest VCT programme in PSI globally.
