1) System-Aware Cyber Security - A project aimed at protecting systems whose perimeters have been breached, by providing combining techniques from fault-tolerance, information assurance, and automatic control systems communities to provide additional cyber security capabilities to deter possible attackers, detect when the system has been compromised, isolate the sub-systems that have been compromised, and restore the system to an uncompromised state. 2) Hierarchical Reconfigurable Information Management - A project to apply advanced ad-hoc peer-to-peer (P2P) networking systems for the facilitation of the flow of information in the event of an emergency situation or natural disaster, thereby promoting greater situational awareness. 3) Foreground-Background Based Separation Streaming Software - Project to provide surveillance for a region that is efficient, in terms of computation and bandwidth; highly reconfigurable; and provides subscribers, both end users and intermediate services, with meta information about the current scene. 4) Using the Concepts of Service Oriented Architecture and Peer-to-Peer Networking to develop an information distribution system that provides the dynamic and flexible sharing of information, the necessary automation tools to allow for human interaction and administration, the incorporation of a heterogeneous set of communication systems and users along with the automatic customization of information based on user type. 5) Information Technology Manager for the STIL.
