I have worked under the mentorship of Dr. Lindsay Kuroki to implement social needs interventions for low-income cervical cancer patients. This work has involved creating stakeholder evaluation questions; responding to IRB revisions; compiling literature reviews on barriers to accessing cervical cancer care; and designing culturally-competent educational brochures on colposcopy and Pap smear testing.

I worked in the Whelan Laboratory with vesicular stomatitis virus to model pathways of SARS-CoV-1 and 2 entry, replication, and spread. I learned how to passage, split, and titer cells; how to transform genes of interest into bacteria and isolate colonies; how to transfect human cells with a gene of interest; and how to isolate DNA, RNA, and protein.

As part of the WashU Institute of Public Health's Summer Research Program, I worked with Dr. Matthew Ellis to investigate differences across racial groups among patients with comorbid psychiatric and opioid use disorders. Through the Dr. James A. Ferguson Emerging Infectious Diseases Research Initiatives for Student Enhancement (RISE) Fellowship Program, I worked with Dr. Jacky Jennings in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine to conduct novel research looking at social support as a facilitator of syphilis testing among sexual minority men in Baltimore City, MD. I presented my findings at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and have been compiling a manuscript for publication.

I work within the Global Health Center alongside 7 colleagues to increase awareness of pressing global health issues across WashU's seven different schools. This involves coordinating with dozens of global health-centric clubs and planning monthly events, as well as the highly anticipated Global Health Week.

I facilitate synchronous and asynchronous instruction by addressing providing technological support to professors and regularly checking classroom equipment.

I conduct and transcribe recorded interviews with CDC officials as well as test public health education materials for the CDC's online Public Health Academy.

I worked in the Penczykowski Lab to organize over 2,000 Plantago images and analyze patterns of powdery mildew infection and herbivory along an urbanization gradient.

I amplify marginalized voices and foster a sense of community amongst first-years through socially relevant and enjoyable virtual programming. I also organize regular meetings with my council and collaborate with other campus entities including: Sophomore Class Council, Senate, SU Exec, school-specific councils, Campus Life, and the First Year Center.

I created infographics and presentation materials that helped recruit hundreds of students nationally to address the shortage of poll workers during the pandemic. I also presented to a class of over five hundred students about the process of becoming a poll worker in St. Louis City and County.
