My Theoretical ApproachI believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. I know from personal experience that when people are given the opportunity to share themselves in a trusting, non-judgmental relationship, positive change happens. As a therapist I am a listener above all else. I understand that cultural influences truly shape the individual's perception on life, and I consider this aspect of the client to be especially important. I practice an eclectic mix of Existential, Narrative, Solutions Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Underlying this approach is my strong commitment to Person-Centered values and techniques. I am also continually practicing Motivational Interviewing strategies when needed. I deeply believe in adhering to a holistic view of the person. Exercise, diet, fun, and one's connection with nature, spirituality, and/or religion, as well as the recognition and honoring of one's culture are always embedded in the collaborative process of developing wellness programs for the client.
