Data collection/management on the demographics and health of the endangered coral Acropora palmata (elkhorn coral) around St. Thomas and St. John for the NOAA funded Acropora Monitoring and Mapping Program (AMMP). AMMP is a joint endeavor with Acropora researchers in Florida and Puerto Rico, aiming to assess the present state and future trajectory of acroporid populations in U.S. Atlantic/Caribbean waters, and ultimately informing management strategies geared toward preserving this endangered species.
