About Robert Harrison

Recently I was the Donor Development Officer for the American Red Cross in Minnesota. The American Red Cross is a historic organization that works every day to prevent and alleviate human suffering. In other words, we help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. My assignment with the organization focuses on: identifying , engagement, cultivates, solicits, and stewards current and prospective donors in expanding their financial support of the work of the American Red Cross. Before joining the American Red Cross I worked for Comcast, American Heart Association, Boy Scouts of America, Coalition for Engaged Education and American Cancer Society. I do look forward to my next chapters of my professional and volunteer life.I have BS in Urban Forestry Management from Southern University A&M College and I recently completed the Mini MBA Executive Education from St. Thomas Opus College of Business.     Begin career as an entry level professional, from there I received a promotion to the Outreach Director where I was responsible for 8 para- professionals; they provided program assistance to inner city youth through 66 in school and after school programs. I developed a network of community organizations to sponsor outreach outdoor and leadership programs in inner city of Minneapolis. Promoted from Outreach Director in Minneapolis to Field Director in the Saint Paul, MN office; this new assignment allowed me to provide leadership to six distinct districts. Assignment covered suburban and urban areas; under my management a team of six executives meet and exceeded objective assigned by the organizations board.Duties including providing daily service to this large geographic area; and managing the volunteer leadership and overseeing that programs were maintained in 289 different program units that provided service to over 10,000 youth and 3,000 volunteers. Under my leadership of my team of six employees we obtained finance and membership gains, improved retention, and increased the amount volunteer leadership positions. Also my creative fundraising ideas led to a major revamp of an event now know as the Million Dollar Day for Scouting, this is where the organization now is focused its efforts to raise one million dollars in a 24 hour time span.
