I am a security and law enforcement professional with 30 years of experience—27 years with the US Air Force where I retired as a Colonel and then 3 years working with the Transportation Security Administration as the Federal Security Director at Portland International Airport. I helped transition operations to the Department of Homeland Security and coordinated efforts across Oregon and Southwest Washington. I have a wide range of experience in varying aspects of homeland security. Half of my time in the Air Force was related to fighting terrorism first in Europe, then in Southwest Asia, and finally in the Pacific. While in the Pacific I was responsible for implementing Presidential Decision Directive 63 which focused on Critical Infrastructure Protection. At the headquarters, I was a planner and exercise planner during two headquarter assignments. I worked closely with US Embassies throughout the Pacific and Southwest Asia. I was part of the initial standup of both the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. Masters Degree in Management from Troy State University and graduated from FBI National Academy , University of Virginia.
