While working in WI Polymers my day to day tasks include;- To receive & record customer samples into the laboratory and upon learning of the nature of the materials and the exact application, to carry out bond tests using various adhesives & sealants.- To accurately record test results and write technical reports on your observations during bond tests.- To liaise with the Sales Department in providing timely and accurate technical assistance.- To visit customers and present technical findings in a clear, accurate and non-technical manner.- To carry out structural tests on competitors’ products, and compare against our own range of adhesives.- Using standard laboratory practice, to accurately manufacture adhesive samples in accordance with defined formulations.- To manage the production of trial adhesive batches & accurately report any observations outside those anticipated.- To manage specific R&D projects and ensure that tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

I previously worked in product development.My role as a product development chemistry intern included:- Formulating and establishing product design and performance objectives. This is carried out in consultation with the research team and also with customers ensuring their needs are met.- Responding to customer requirements, upgrading current products and improving the current product specification set out. Liaising with suppliers of raw materials.- Resolving production problems. This can include reformulating production batches on a lab scale and carrying out stability studies on these batches. Conducting test protocols and procedures, and product evaluation.- With each project an accelerated and real time stability study is carried out on the products. An extensive test plan is then carried out at each time point. - Documenting development work on a daily basis and finally writing technical reports (IRD reports) regarding quality and efficacy of new products when they are finished. - While carrying out this the lab is maintained to a 5S standard. This includes carrying out monthly internal audits ensuring best safety practices are met.
