Some of the duties I undertake in my role as an Aviation Firefighter include - • Saving and preserving endangered life at Aircraft, building and vehicle incidents. • Extingish fire at Aircraft incidents.• BA wearer.• Containing and controlling spillage or release of hazardous materials. • Respond to first aid calls and administer first aid. • Fire appliance equipment checks and inspections.• Control/Watchroom operations (Includes receiving emergency calls, mobilising fire crews, liaising with emergency services, keeping log books and incident reports up to date and relaying information to the station officer or responsible person)• Air Operations duties (Includes runway and taxiway inspections, follow me duties with aircraft, escorting contractors around the airfield)• Fire prevention, call point and panel testing.• Animal wildlife control.• Snow clearing and grass cutting duties.

Whilst working for Securitas I progressed from a security agent to a trainer. Having spent five and a half years at Liverpool Airport I then moved on to Robin Hood Airport. I am a trained Level 2 supervisor and airside driver including RT. Some of the roles I undertook during my employment involved - • Training and re-training of staff at various levels in all aspects of aviation security.• Maintaining compliance.• Maintaining and raising standards of service provision.• X-Ray operator and trainer.• Screening passengers by use of x-ray equipment, body search, bag search and vehicle search.• Patrols of the Airport on foot and also patrols of the airfield in a vehicle. • Keeping accurate reports in log books and incident reporting.• Access control.During my time as a trainer I had the opportunity to work for BT at the BT tower during the 2012 Olympics training staff on x-ray operation, IED/IID recognition and body search. I was also seconded to train staff at ASOS main warehouse on body search and customer service.
