In May 2007, Bob Murray became the first SIU Director for AIPSO. His past experience includes 6 years as the SIU Coordinator for the New York Automobile Insurance Plan, 12 years with NATB / NICB and 20 years with the NYPDDuring his career with NYPD, Bob was an investigative supervisor in the Organized Crime Control Bureau’s Auto Crime Division. Upon retirement from the Auto Crime Division, Bob joined NATB as an investigator. A few years later, he became the NICB Regional Director for the New York, New Jersey Area. In January 2001, Bob started up the NYAIP SIU as a one-man operation. The following year he formed an investigative team consisting of four field investigators and one data analyst. Under his direction, the NYAIP SIU worked with insurance carriers and law enforcement agencies to investigate, detect and deter all auto related insurance fraud and theft affecting policies assigned by NYAIP. This included cases involving applications, underwriting and claims. Bob has served on the Board of Directors for numerous fraud fighting organizations including NYACT, ACT-NJ, NE-IAATI, and NJVTI.He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree (summa cum laude) in Criminal Justice from the New York Institute of Technology.As the SIU Director for AIPSO, Bob oversees all fraud containment initiatives on a regional and national level.
