Allow for the unification of separate and sometimes disparate federal, state, and local information, authorities, and enforcement programs. Help coordinate with various judicial districts to maximize the effectiveness of multiple investigations and prosecutions of those involved in the diversion of controlled substances or listed chemicals. Major Offender District - Tactical Diversion Unit (Phoenix)

Supervises detectives during the investigation of doctors and pharmacies for over prescribing opioids and failing to provide proper care as well as other drug related crimes. Reviews operational plans and search warrants as well as undercover operations prior to service and oversees the execution of same operations. Performs related duties as assigned. Plans, schedules, coordinates and supervises the work of sworn officers and civilian personnel. Reviews the work of assigned personnel to ensure compliance with Department policies and procedures. Accompanies officers during the performance of their duties to observe and evaluate performance. Reviews logs and reports of assigned personnel for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established standards. Evaluates employee performance and identifies deficiencies and/or training needs. Provides or arranges for necessary instruction. Initiates discipline when appropriate. Prepares performance appraisals and supporting documentation. Assists in the development, implementation, and attainment of Department goals and objectives in assigned area. Evaluates activities of assigned area and recommends improvements and modifications. Responds to accident or crime scenes and takes command when appropriate. Testifies in court in connection with arrests and investigations. Directs investigations into citizen or internal complaints against employees of the Department. Prepares a variety of reports (statistical, activity, administrative, etc.) as required.
