Robert Wallis, Principal, Curriculum and Education Manager at Outward Bound Canada (OBC), has a PhD. in Genetics from Oxford University, and a B.Ed. from OISE, Toronto. He joined OBC as an instructor, as putting the outdoors into his teaching matched Outward Bound Canada’s drive to grow their High School Credit program. Moving swiftly from Instructor to Principal, Robert has focussed and resourced OBC curriculum around Social and Emotional Learning and the Environment, and works to improve the perception and reach of outdoor education within schools and at the government policy level.Current focus is on how educational and specifically experiential education in nature empowers individuals to make a positive and meaningful contribution to combatting the climate crisis, maintaining biodiversity, and increasing hope and agency for youth to face growing environmental challenges.
