How does an Engineer use his free time.... Many people relax in front of a TV or sit in a quiet room and meditate. They paint or sculpt.I sit in front of a work bench and computer, designing and building internet connected devices for my home.Examples:Web-connected Nixie Tube Alarm clock powered by Raspberry Pi. Tubes from Ukraine, chips from Russia (acquired the chips several years ago)Web-connected Garage Door controller. Allows me to check the status of my door from anywhere on earth and control it.Web-connected humidor monitor. I never remembered to check it so I built a device that would let me monitor the temp and humidity from anywhere I was.Each of those designed on paper and in my head. Connected and tested on a bread board. Then drawn up in EasyEDA and delivered as finished blank boards not long after from Asia. Few hours of soldering later....Voila! Sanity preserved.
