I'm a curious individual who thrives on solving problems and helping others. As a child I used to take apart my toys and old radios to see how they work. When I was 7 years old, a family friend loaned us what would become my first computer: a Commodore VIC-20. By the end of the year, I had learned how to code and was building my own adventure games. In high school, I started my first business building websites. This led to a 25 year career as a designer, developer, consultant, and entrepreneur.While I've amassed a wide variety of technical skills over my career, the common link between all of them has always been my inherent desire to discover how things work, to get to the root of a problem, and to find creative ways to solve it. And over the years, I've employed this skill to help hundreds of businesses and entrepreneurs solve problems, overcome roadblocks, and achieve their goals. Employing these skills in the service of others is my ultimate calling.At my core, I bring strong observational and pattern recognition skills, an inherent ability to categorize & sort information into hierarchies, and a methodical approach to problem solving. This allows me to solve problems across a wide variety of domains, whether it's improving the efficiency of a business process, developing a brand strategy for a product, or figuring out why a web application is breaking down.I also have a passion for communication, whether written, spoken, or drawn. I often employ metaphors and create diagrams to explain complex topics. My notes often look like flowcharts and wireframes. I've written hundreds of blogs to share ideas and educate the audience. I love to reframe things into new contexts, such as translating the features of a technical product into a list of benefits that a business user will understand. For this reason, I have often served as a connector and translator between disparate job functions and departments, such as design & finance, management & tech, sales & IT.
