About Rusty Martin
I have been in technical product development for 10 years learning what it takes to negotiate requirements, design, test and deploy products to manufacturing. As a technical team lead, I get the joy of guiding my team towards their career pursuits while pressing to achieve our technical and business objectives. My passion is coaching via self-awareness, developing strengths and managing blind spots through partnerships. I love to travel and see the world through different perspectives: culturally and geographically (I love maps!). These perspectives help so much when collaborating with our international teams to jointly develop and launch products.I thrive when I holistically learn a new ambiguous topic and then have the forum to give that knowledge away to others. Leading a technical team, coaching people and technical advising provides that forum. My hope is that when I look back, my greatest value-add is guiding people to transform ideas that meet needs into sustainable business models that change lives. The products I’ve developed in and beyond my mechanical training include: superchargers, aerospace hydraulic valves, circuit breakers, lighting control sensors and internet of things (IoT) connected light fixtures. Currently, I design and implement mechanical tooling changes in Solidworks (sheet metal and plastic), specify electronic design, validate electronic performance, specify firmware design for testing and quality checks and maintain relationships with multiple major suppliers.
