As a lifelong learner, I've always pushed myself to pursue mentors who can help me better myself as an engineer. I've had the pleasure of learning from engineers from several enormously influential institutions in the medical device space such as Siemens Healthineers, Dexcom Inc., Insulet Corp., and now JenaValve Technologies. In these experiences I've discovered a deep passion for engineering for the sake of others. In all of my positions I've found myself excelling beyond my job description, solving problems that had yet to be addressed. I believe in engineering for simplicity, elegance, and efficiency. I am a highly independent worker who thrives in collaborative team environments.

Teaching AssistantCalifornia Baptist University Oct 2020 - Dec 2022Riverside, California, United StatesI began working as a teaching assistant for EGR101 my freshman year when I asked my professor, Dr. Matthew Rickard if I could help with the class. At that time, I was taking the class myself. However, when we began to learn about Arduinos and C++ coding, I realized that I was already ahead of the class since I had taught myself how to program the summer before. Since I had already begun helping my peers with the basics of programming, I asked Dr. Rickard if I might be able to help in a more formal context. It turned out that he needed more assistance since it was the middle of the pandemic, and resources were low. I worked under Dr. Rickard for the remainder of my Fall semester. At the beginning of my Sophomore year, Dr. Rickard asked me to become a formal TA for the class, given my interest and experience from the previous year. That year I worked 140 hours over the 15-week semester, a record for any engineering TA. Immediately, I saw the need for organization in the lab. Old components needed to be sorted through and thrown out, and parts needed to be labeled and placed in appropriate bins so the workplace could be as efficient as possible. Additionally, I saw the need for some of the lab projects to be updated. One lab, in particular, assembling a 3D-printed robot hand, was essentially a glorified lego kit. It offered little in the way of education for the students. I took on the initiative to rewrite the lab, and design and build a biomechanical tracking glove that students could replicate to control the 3D-printed hand. My project was successfully implemented into the curriculum in the Fall of 2022. The initiative in leadership and organization I have received thus far from being a teaching assistant has been indispensable in my degree. -
