Through my position at Mid Missouri Valley Agri-Services, Inc for the last five years I have gained in-the-field research experience with corn and soybean plants. The first two years I performed field scout tasks, walking over 10,000 acres of farm land. This included identifying plant growth stage in sprayed fields, identifying invasive weeds and insects and checking for plant diseases and viruses. Another duty I had was to help my boss map out field plots. I helped to plan, maintain, harvest and gather appropriate research data from the plots. We worked with seed companies Burrus, Dupont and Syngenta and performed field trials to test their upcoming product. I gained extensive knowledge from these experiences including management of people and time. I learned to communicate well with my boss and fellow employees and to make clear decisions and to be adaptable to the changing working environment.
