My name is Sam Parrish and I am a biomedical engineering student at Texas A&M University in the class of 2024. I am currently seeking a permanent entry-level biomedical engineering position, preferably in product development or research.As part of my cirriculum at Texas A&M, I completed a senior design project with a team of fantastic people. Our project was a combined continuous glucose monitor and infusion system. During this year long project, I gained crucial experience determining user needs, their respective design inputs, and how those needs affect the final design of a medical device. Additionally, I also deepened my understanding of FDA and ISO medical device regulations and how to design tests to verify that your device complies with those regulations. Our design won second in major at the Texas A&M Engineering Project Showcase and a Capstone Design Innovation Award from the Texas A&M Biomedical Engineering Department. I also competed in the 2022 South-Southwest Medical Device Make-a-Thon, which was a 48-hour design challenge at UT San Antonio. I got to compete with a team of my friends and peers, in which we placed fourth for our design.Currently, I serve as the external relations team lead for BUILD, a 501(c)(3) non-profit student organization at Texas A&M University. BUILD's missionis to unite the student body through a large scale service project each fall, which is currently the conversion of 40 foot shipping containers in to fully-functional and mobile medical clinics. In this role, I am in charge of facilitating monetary donations and clinic sponsorships, as well as maintaining relationships with those donors. I am also in charge of grant writing for the organization, also for the purpose of organizing clinic sponsorships. In my one year tenure, I have raised nearly $263,000 for the organization, a record.In addition to BUILD, I served as the fundraising director for Aggies for Limbs for two years. Aggies for Limbs is a service based student organization at texas A&M, whose goal is to fundraise for a local non-profit called Ashton's Angels. Ashton's Angels mission is to provide prosthetics to those who cannot financially afford them. During my two year tenure, I worked with university officials, local restaurants, and other partners to organize profit shares, bake sales, and other fundraisers to support the organiztions cause.
