I am an undergraduate student attending DMACC who has aspiring plans in Information Systems. Some of my goals include expanding my knowledge in various programming languages (Python, C#, SQL), growing my professional leadership skills, and gaining connections.Since I was a kid, I have loved computers. My dad got me and my brother into computers at the age of seven. When my brother built his first computer, my interest grew. He then helped me to build my first computer. Around this time, I got into programming, watching tutorials on YouTube so that I could make my own game on a popular site called ROBLOX. Since then, I have helped many friends design and build computers. I have also dived further into programming, and don’t plan on stopping.During my time at Waukee High School, I took many programming and computer science-related classes. I also participated in my district’s Aspiring Professional Experience (APEX) program, described as pseudo-internships. At APEX, our teachers were instructors, and our classmates were associates. The program was meant to prepare its associates for their first steps into the real world, while simultaneously allowing them to take that step early. Through APEX, I took many opportunities to expand and grow my skill set. I volunteered on many projects, such as creating a website for my school’s football team or automating the interview process for a local business.After graduating, I had new goals in mind for my future. I started at DMACC in Fall 2022, and plan to graduate in May 2024. At DMACC, I am taking classes intending to be proficient in Python and C#. Along the way, I am gathering knowledge in HTML and CSS, as well as Database and SQL.I can’t claim to be a master yet, but I can claim the drive to be one.
