Marketing ManagerVerder Jan 2005 - Jan 2007Leeds, United KingdomThis was a full mix marketing role where I was responsible for both advertising and direct mail communications targeting new clients and businesses for Verder UK, the Verderflex brand worldwide and provided support for the Retch product range. This was to support the UK sales staff as well as the international distribution network. Responsible for the management and reporting of the PR and advertising budget for the UK market and the Verderflex brand.Developed advertising and communication plan and strategy specifically relating to advertising – press, display and SEM, web sites, product launches and public relations. A key task for this role was to develop and launch an eCommerce section to the UK website, this was delivered within three months. Sales were poor through the site so we redeveloped it to sell spares and ancillary products, which was more successful. We rolled out the technology to develop a secure site for international distributors, allowing them to order promotional material, brochure ware and sample items for exhibitions.Using bespoke CRM system updated and maintained websites for both www.verder.co.uk and www.verderflex.com. Utilised a bespoke email distribution system to provide regular communications on products and services to customers as well as to distributors.Develop Promotional Material such as Brochures, Posters, Newsletters, Product Information Booklets & Safety and operation manuals. Developed creative specifically for different markets and liaising directly with different publications to plan and work on Advertorials and advertising opportunities, this was primarily in the UK and the US.Planned and organised exhibitions alongside the head office in the Netherlands, also arranged Distributor events in both Germany and China.

Marketing AssistantOmnia Jan 1997 - Sep 2004Johannesburg Area, South AfricaA key responsibility within this role was the design and copywriting of all communications, promotional material and advertising. All communications and material had to be developed in two languages for the local market. When the company rebranded in 2003/4 and I managed the transition for all the business units (both local and International) and all internal communications as well as external comms to customers. This included presenting the new brand to Heads of and Directors as well as managing agency partners to ensure timely delivery. I was responsible for the development of the companies first website, built internally using MS Frontpage and then moved the site to an external web development agency to build a CMS system in order for us to be able to easily manage and build smaller sites for each of the companies 14 business units. Event management – part of this role included planning and preparing exhibition stands for large scale “Farmers Days” – for upwards of 600 attendees, as well as for larger shows such as NAMPO (a large national farmers day that the company sponsored). In this role I was responsible for developing an off site annual event for all sales staff providing education, training and team building at an external venue – including all arrangements, booking and management of the event for 70 – 150 staff members at a time. Launched an interactive weekly email newsletter in two languages, this was brand new in South Africa at the time and was well received by staff and customers alike. Open rates were at of 45% within 3 months of the launch. In this role I was responsible for the budget in the Marketing Department (R 1 million)
