Spearheaded and successfully implemented a proactive DMSMS obsolescence program for a $3B helicopter developmental program. Instrumental in negotiations of supplier proposals; mitigated program impact of obsolescence issues by analyzing early warning alerts. Created and maintained program specific DMSMS obsolescence plan. Spearheaded DMSMS risk management through direct communication and negotiation with suppliers. Used Bill of Materials (BOM) to provide a complete assessment of a part’s availability and lifetime.  Facilitated long range planning to forecast supply chain problems. Consulted with and made recommendations to design engineers on ‘when’ and ‘what parts to replace or redesign.  Researched and conducted analysis to determine form, fit and function alternates using HAYSTACK, Q-Star, GIDEP, IHS and the Internet. Prepared and presented briefing materials to inter-disciplinary teams and across grade levels at design reviews and obsolescence team meetings. As subject matter expert, championed DMSMS program throughout the organization.  Managed the documentation, tracking, status and resolution of component obsolescence cases; developed and maintained the Obsolescence Management Database.

Managed a component parts standardization program, and enforced the use of standard electrical and mechanical components. Provided technical resource to Design Engineering, Quality, Procurement and other departments; assisted in parts application, selection, problem resolution and availability. Evaluated obsolescence cases submitted by the obsolescence program manager. Developed mechanical and electrical component standards; qualified and validated part integrity for cataloging in the component management database. Initiated and resolved supersession / alternate part requests. Maintained the component management database. Led analysis and evaluation of o-rings used in multiple programs; investigated configurational, mechanical, material and environmental properties. Collaborated with design engineers in the final selection of o-rings. Communicated to the design community standard o-rings available for their applications. Successfully met design and production requirements while reducing inventory costs.

Built and managed a Parts, Materials and Processes (PMP) control program; created a PMP plan that encompassed selection requirements and procedures to obtain approval to use nonstandard and restricted parts, materials and processes. Assisted engineering in PMP selection and approval. Represented the company’s technical interests as a subject matter expert on the National Aerospace Standards Committee (NASC). Investigated component issues which resulted in the creation and revision of aerospace industry standards. Led the development of metric standards. Contributed to documentation cost reduction by eliminating the need to create program specific detail and control drawings. Executed an electronic component qualification program; conducted component review for standardization, defined mechanical, electrical, environmental and quality assurance requirements. Monitored component life cycles and obsolescence using TACTEC; prepared and uploaded bill of materials into TACTEC.
