About Sharon Spence

I am inspired to help New Zealanders plot meaningful and joyful working lives. In my 25+ years in senior HR roles, I have seen first-hand the difference between those truly ‘connected’ to their chosen field and those who are just phoning it in! Being in the right job is great for the individual, great for their team & organisation, and NZ Inc. benefits too! There is a persistent assumption out there that people just know where they want to take their career and why they want to go there, and that managers know how to have productive career conversations. In reality it is seldom true. Not surprisingly, lack of career development is the No.1 or No.2 reason people leave their jobs. The idea that we can do something to realise that untapped potential inspired the creation of amp’d careers, an organisation dedicated to helping people identify what truly motivates them, and building the courage and confidence to go there.
