Awesome!Longer version - • Continued work from prior Career Experience, working specifically within the (then) newly formed Materials group.• Test experimental materials - metals, plastics, coatings and finishes - in a variety of physical scenarios, with a focus on corrosion and wear in immersion/environmental scenarios.• Create, optimize, and/or revise test processes and methodologies.• Design and develop software or hardware automation solutions as needed.In addition to these responsibilities, I stepped up to optimize our test processes by utilizing 3d printing technologies: • Learned Fusion 360 for CAD modeling • Ran prints through an Ultimaker FDM 3d printer or Trotec 400 Flexx laser table where appropriate• Built strategies and systems to accelerate existing testing, handle larger sample sets (Often by factors of 3 or more), and reduce test anomalies caused by existing fixture methods.• Increased photography quality with consistent imagery between checkpoints, often with significant reduction in man-hours (>24h over the course of testing)• Optimized photography process to minimize handling of samples and man hours needed.• Branched out of my group to assist other groups, achieving similar results and consistency in photography or significantly reducing man hours (>24h in some cases).
Career Experience - Reliability Technician
Applied and was selected for another short-term assignment, this time with the Reliability Test Engineering team. This was the first Career Experience offered by this department, and was used to model the experience for future CEs while enhancing the new-hire experience for the group. This role entailed a month and a half each with the iOS and Dynamic Characterization groups within the Reliability Test Engineering department. Responsibilities included:• Supporting reliability test engineers with product testing and feedback• Be an acting liaison between Retail and Corporate, providing feedback and insight going both ways. • Provide expertise cultivated from working in the field to enhance existing test models, processes, and observed failure modes.• Wrote software where possible to help automate and better track test results.
