About Shruti Bhargava

I am an experienced Board Director / Chair, and a versatile management consultant with a strong analytical approach, complemented by a strategic outlook and excellent leadership, facilitation and soft skills. I have a rare combination of experience in delivering consultancy to the private sector, and applying this in the public sector as an "insider" to transform services and support senior managers with strategic challenges. My approach is both facilitative and collaborative, drawing on extensive experience, skills and tools. I like to work in partnership with clients, become part of their teams, and get people involved. I have a natural coaching style, and am quite creative in the way I work with people. I believe in building capability to achieve sustainable solutions, and like to provide opportunities for wider participation.I particularly enjoy tackling big challenges and complexity – making sense of those issues that no-one can get their head round, or everyone thinks just can't be fixed. It doesn’t matter if its strategic, operational, or about people – the more dimensions to it, the better. I’ll get to the bottom of what’s going on, and work with clients and stakeholders to design and implement sustainable solutions.Specialisms: • Strategic thinking, visioning, complexity & systems• Public / non profit sectors policy creation & execution• Transformational change• Trouble-shooting challenges and complex problems• Leadership, culture, board & senior team development• Organisation designAs Chair of a Black Minority Ethnic (BME) Housing Association, I am active in the housing sector, including on matters of race equality and transformational change. I am a member of the sector's Trust & Quality Steering Group for the Better Social Housing Review, and a core member of its Race Action Group.I have an active role, as a speaker, panellist, and 'influencer', both in my capacity as Chair and as an independent 'influencer'. Examples include:• Speech on 'Levelling Up' in theEconomic Development keynote session, at the Northern Powerhouse’s ‘Great Northern’ Conference, Oct 2021 (also featured in the Yorkshire Post). Panellist in 'Levelling Up' keynote session at the National Housing Federation (NHF) Summit, Sep 2022• Conference Chair for the NHF's 2 day Audit & Risk conference, Dec 2021• Housing Diversity Network (HDN) podcast "BME or BAME, what's in a name?" May 2022• Panellist on HDN webinar, on the Sewell report, May 2021• “Diversity in our Boardrooms: who cares?”, published in Northern Housing Magazine, Jul 2020
