A registered mental health nurse (THORN) working at the University of Southampton leading the mental health nursing team. Currently also the head of mental health nursing programmes at the Royal College of Nursing. Working on the new national psycho-social interventions programme for registered mental health nurses. Other projects include supporting mental health nurses support service users with learning disabilities and neurodiversity in mental health secondary care and how to support emotionally vulnerable people in acute care. Key interests working with families, community care and more recently in exploring new ways of preparing the nursing workforce for challenges ahead in clinical practice . I teach on a varied number pre & post reg programmes in Health and Social Care. I have trained in Sand-tray Interventions and this has really helped my teaching and practice. Clinical background is around Early Intervention for Psychosis. Also working at ways to improve technology enhanced learning to improve the student experiences. Outside work I enjoying coaching rugby and playing vets rugby. In the summer its all about the lawn bowls.
