I work on the development and maintinance of Set Top Box Middleware as part of an Agile team. The role involves the use of low and high level languages in a Linux development environment. I became part of CISCO as a result of its acquisition of NDS.

Chandlers Ford

I work on the development and maintinance of STB Middleware writing code in mostly in C but also using C++, bash, sed, python, javascript and C#. NDS became part of CISCO in 2013.

While at ST Ericsson I worked on a project to add GPS and Location Based Services support to Android. I developed code running under Linux and design described using UML in Enterprise Architect.

While at Ericsson I was a software architect for Location Based Services in mobile phones. This included integrating GPS into the phone and support for cellular based technologies such as EOTD. I was also involved is reviewing patents related to positioning.

I worked on the GSM protocol stack for orbital mobile phones, in particular L3. I attend ETSI standardisation meetings. Later I worked on a project for including the GSM protocol stack in satellite phones.

I worked on design and coding for the Bowman project for HF radios.

The company was originally called Nuclear Enterprises it made instruments for measuring radiation for medical use and for the nuclear industry. There was typically one software and one hardware engineer per project. I wrote the embedded software for instruments based on the 8051 and 68020 processors, both with and without the use of an RTOS.
