I'm a creative person and green campaigner, with a 'portfolio career'. In other words, not quite good enough at any one thing to make a living from it. Architect, firefighter, flautist, florist, nude model, and lion tamer are just some of the many jobs I haven't had yet. Trombonist, juggler, monster, deatheater, MP candidate and apple packer are just some of the many I have. My main job is at Quietroom, an insight-led communications consultancy featuring brilliant and brainy writers and strategists. I run communication projects, create videos+animations, write, speak at conferences and help clients make their tricky subjects more meaningful. I specialise in pensions - a subject I now know more about than I ever thought possible. I've even had articles published in Pensions Expert magazine. I love the fact that working in pensions is about helping people make better decisions and have a better life. It's also an industry full of really lovely people.I’ve been a Green Party local councillor in St Albans since 2011. Hugely rewarding but not in the pays-the-mortgage sense. Like trombone practice, this takes up as much time as you can give it.I started professional life as an actor and actor/musician, especially in touring theatre but with a bit of film and TV too. I did that full time for about 20 years, but these days only occasionally. You might spot me as a deatheater in Harry Potter (on the train in Deathly Hallows Part 1 if you must know) or the butler in Gigglebiz (if you watch a lot of pre-school TV). I was also in The Tweenies for 3 years, but wearing a huge animatronic head, so well done if you recognise me from that.Off the back of acting in children's TV, I became a writer. I've written 100+ scripts for children's TV, mostly pre-school. Looking back, I think writing for pre-school children is what got me excited about using clear language, short messages, and stories - ideas I'm now obsessed with at Quietroom.
Listed skills include Copywriting, Television, Comedy, Feature Films, and 5 others.
