I enjoy the analysis part of the role the most as that gives me licence to not only show my understanding but to put forward my recomendations based on the data to hand.

Key Account Manager

In this role I was responsible for 4 of the company’s largest ‘key accounts’ - The AA, Saga, Kwikfit & Direct Choice (combined GWP of £40m+) and I looked to manage the ‘Ageas message’ with these customers to insure account growth and sustained profitability. I had to meet yearly targets to ensure we maximize every opportunity and help guarantee that Ageas was at the forefront of these relationships. Monthly review meetings covered off underwriting issues / performance, finance, marketing, branding, claims, future opportunities and general housekeeping. My main priority was to help grow the accounts but I was also a fixer / troubleshooter when issues arose. I’ve built a strong internal network which is vital when trying to resolve account issues (both internal and external). I was home based for the role but I was required to travel regularly to Ageas offices in Eastleigh, Gloucester, London and Glasgow for account meetings. I’m able to manage my own time to ensure I get the job done. I learnt a great deal during this 14 month period and it helped expand my knowledge of our customer base and help understand their wants and needs.

After only 10 months as a Broker Opertations Analyst I was successful in applying to be the team manager. I’d quickly established myself within the team and built up a strong internal network across multiple departments since joining earlier in the year. I enjoyed this role immensely as it gave me full autonomy to move the team in a direction that I felt would better serve the business. I successfully launched a new ‘Telephone Account Management’ project within the team. This involved two team members to actively pursue under-performing brokers for a period of 3 months to better understand what Ageas could do to help them grow their business. We learned a lot from this pilot project and it helped form the basis of other roles that have since been created within the business. It was challenging going from Team Member to Team Leader but I received positive feedback from both my line manager and key stakeholders suggesting I left the team in a much better position in October than the one I inherited 11 months earlier.

As part of the household claims team I was responsible for taking initial details of any household claim. After confirming cover, I’d then decide the best course of action. One of the more interesting parts of my role was flagging up potential discrepancies and cases of possible fraud. I enjoyed my time in claims but I was keen to move to another department where I could take more ownership of situations on a day to day basis.
