Reinforcing what I had learned previously, the Advanced Services team dealt with outsource clients, expanding on the ITIL principles and working very closely with clients. In addition to working with clients on technical issues, additional focus is placed on management of the environment. By collaborating with all technology groups for a client, a more unified approach to managing the customer environment is achieved resulting in less incidents, quicker resolution time and a better picture of what the client is trying to achieve. I also strive to provide the best possible documentation (network diagrams, instruction sets, configuration templates etc) in order to assist both the client and co-workers to better understand their environments. Major technical responsibilities:* Cisco switching (from layer 2 access switches through to chassis/Nexus switching)* Cisco routing (from small 800 series devices to ASR series)* Cisco wireless - all WLCs and APs* Cisco Prime Infrastructure - in both wireless and wired capacity* Riverbed - managing SteelHead appliances (Solo and with SteelCentral) and NetProfiler-centred appliances (NPM)

As a graduate engineer, I was assigned to the routing and switching team, supporting a large number of clients with technical escalations in a Managed Services environment. This involved direct troubleshooting of issues and liaising with vendors. Heavily focused on Cisco products, I gained significant experience with the following:* Cisco routing (800 series through to ASR grade)* Cisco switching (2950 series through to 6500)* Cisco wireless (various WLC and lightweight and autonomous AP models)* Various ITIL methodologies, mainly incident management.

I was responsible for the monitoring of various banking systems and ensuring batch jobs completed successfully. Primarily working at night, after hours service desk support was also provided as well as the running of various regular end of day processes.

Continuing work and research (from my university final year project) into Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), focussing on how to communicate wirelessly in a vehicular environment. This culminated in the creation of a system which was able to capture and send GPS co-ordinates, car speed and car engine RPM which were then displayed on a digital map for visual representation.

Having worked at Syncsoft as part of an Industry Based Learning (IBL) year, I was responsible for maintaining and implementing many different technologies. This included helpdesk tasks, maintaining data backups, documenting company policies and procedures and heavily involved in a number of projects, such as the native migration to Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, implementing a new WSUS server and configuration of new internet gateway, running Microsoft ISA Server 2006.
