With a current budget of $500,000, the Executive Director is responsible for implementing the strategic goals and objectives of Lift Urban Portland as created with the Board and Staff in accordance with the organization’s stated mission and in compliance with laws, regulations, and contract requirements. With the President, the Executive Director enables the Board to fulfill its governance function. The Executive Director leads the team of staff and volunteers who comprise Lift Urban Portland and deliver its services.

I am currently prioritizing clients interested in building their capacity for effective DEI work, or strengthening their skills around supervision, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care. I tailor my approach to best meet the needs of my clients, and my services include facilitating training, coaching individuals or teams, conducting assessments, and addressing project-based needs. I am experienced working with organizations that address gender-based violence, housing and homelessness, community health, and child/youth services. I am particularly interested in opportunities where I feel alignment with the mission and values of the organization, and where I can work collaboratively with staff to implement structural change or foster cultural shifts. I bring 17 years of non-profit experience, a deeply-rooted commitment to equity and justice, and exceptionally strong communication and organizational skills.

This position reports to the Executive Director. Responsibilities and accomplishments included: - Oversight of YWCA’s five direct-service programs, including supervision of program directors.- Ensured services to over 12,000 survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability annually were trauma-informed and mission-aligned. - Fostered an empowering and trauma-informed workplace culture for 55+ direct-service staff. - Oversight of program budgets and contract compliance. Led procurement of government and foundation grant revenue. - Led internal racial and LGBTQ+ equity initiatives, including establishing a racial equity committee and coordinating YWCA’s annual racial justice awards. Initiated and implemented racial equity assessments and plans. - In partnership with the Board Chair of Public Policy, co-led YWCA’s public policy committee, advancing legislative and community-based initiatives that align with YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism and empower women, centering affordable housing as a priority agenda issue.- Acted as interim Executive Director from June 2018-August 2018 during the tendered director’s sabbatical. This position was formerly titled Director of Programs and was changed to reflect my leadership and increase in responsibility.

Responsibilities and accomplishments included:- Led the primary domestic violence program serving Clark County, including operating the only local emergency DV shelter. Supervised 12 staff with oversight of a team of 20+. - Promoted an empowerment-based, survivor-centered approach to services, reducing barriers to access and improving cultural responsiveness of services. - Facilitated teamwork to enhance service to survivors and support advocate needs. - Oversight of $1 million budget. Ensured compliance with state regulations and contracts, and identified opportunities for program growth and potential funding sources. - Strengthened relationships with community partners and funders, particularly housing partners, law enforcement, and locally-based culturally specific organizations.

Responsibilities and accomplishments included: - Managed a volunteer program of 600+ annual volunteers providing direct service to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect. - Coordinated volunteers for special projects and events.- Recruited, screened, and trained volunteers to ensure competent volunteers were matched with positions that met their skills and interests. - Led a collaborative process to redesign trainings on trauma and YWCA’s mission. - Supported volunteer managers to increase retention and advise on best practices in volunteer management. Implemented ongoing program evaluation to measure impact of volunteers on the organization and mission.

Reported directly to the Executive Director. Coordinated a full-time year-long volunteer program for 100-125 volunteers in five states, provided individual and group supervision for five Area Directors, designed and implemented trainings for volunteers and staff, coordinated an annual week-long orientation event for all volunteers, led the screening and application process for incoming volunteers, led the agency recruitment and selection process, assisted with hiring staff, and retained the general responsibilities of Area Director with direct oversight of eight to sixteen volunteers. Assisted with all significant program-related projects, including strategic planning, expansion, and the successful application for a $1 million federal grant.

Offered support and mentorship to twenty volunteers in three communities in diverse impoverished areas including Native American reservations, performed on-site visits, liaised with agency supervisors, planned and implemented three retreats per year for 50 volunteers, recruited potential volunteers, recruited potential non-profit agency partners, and assisted with conflict resolution as needed.

On-call position. Provided basic supervision and support services to adjudicated adolescent women in residential setting.

As a Jesuit Volunteer (JV), coordinated an activity and recreational center for Native Yup’ik adults with developmental disabilities. Facilitated culturally-based recreation with the goal of decreasing isolation and creating community between disabled and able-bodied adults.

Provided support and referral services to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Conducted intakes, co-facilitated support groups, and led psycho-educational groups for children aged 4-12 who witnessed/experienced abuse at home. Presented in high schools on dating violence and domestic violence prevention, and participated in awareness raising events.
