I love a challenge & the work I do has to be both meaningful and impactful.Working with apprentices to support them on their journey to completion is a great challenge that brings together so may of my skills. Working at Busy at Work alongside skilled and passionate people is inspiring, Before Busy I managed a small team in a start-up environment at UNIQ You where we opened up the world of work to schoolgirls in industries that are underrepresented by females. This was so inspiring and I am still passionate about women working in these industries. Prior to UNIQ You, I set up & ran the office for a new and enthusiastic State MP. This was both challenging & exciting! Building strong relationships with the constituency was a priority & I put my heart into this. I'm comfortable working with people across a broad range of the community & one of my skills is to quickly connect & establish trust. Prior to the electorate office role, I started a career consulting & grant writing business which still continues. Loving what you do is such a buzz & life is too unpredictable to work in a job you don’t enjoy. For me, I need to work to make a difference & my career has definitely given me that opportunity at every step of the way.One of the highlights of my career was working for The Smith Family as a partnership broker under an Australia-wide government funded program. I built partnerships between schools & community to increase the capacity of schools for better school-to-work pathways. The first partnership I pursued was with the Australian Industry Trade College (AITC) to consider Redlands for their 2nd campus. This involved conversations between all of the potential stakeholders & took 2.5 years to achieve. My understanding of the need & the potential impact of a school like this in my community was the key to success. I was recruited by the CEO of AITC to attract the first cohort of students. I embraced this role & again was able to leverage my community connections & trust in the local area to build a cohort of 93 students, 92 who started on the first day of term. This was beyond the expectation of a 20% drop off, as is standard in the industry. The college today is one of many campuses & still thrives in the Redlands.In all of my roles I successfully combine a strong portfolio of skills in community connection, small business, office management & executive support. My skills include high level written & oral communication, stakeholder management & client contact. I am resourceful, flexible, diplomatic, & persuasive.

    Running an electorate office and supporting a busy and extremely motivated MP is both challenging and fulfilling. The role of electorate officer is a combination of executive assistant, office manager, event manager, document writer and community developer. No day is the same in this role and plans for the day often fly out the window before the first cup of coffee; flexibility is key.Having won the election in late November 2017, Kim invited me to set up and run the office in January 2018. This involved moving into the office and recruiting staff while setting up digital filing systems, organising marketing tools such as the website, merchandise, stationery etc. and meeting the community who were keen to get to know their new MP. Connecting with the community of 40 000 people was the biggest piece of work of the next 12 months and involved the business, education, not for profit and government agency communities as well as individuals from across the diverse electorate.Dealing with complex and sensitive communications is one of the key tasks of the role; it’s important to be compassionate but realistic and to be able to convey both sentiments in a way that constituents can both understand and accept. You need to be the consummate diplomat!Diary management plays an important part in the role and accuracy is very important here, ensuring that everything the Member needs for meetings and community visits is in place ahead of time.Managing the marketing and social media is another important part of the role, monitoring Facebook comments and having a high awareness of media is key.I love the diversity this role offers and the challenges in an everchanging climate. COVID19 has brought about change and challenge across the globe and I have certainly experienced plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and to adapt to the pandemic.

In a previous role as a Partnership Broker I brokered the relationship between the AITC, local Council and industry leaders. My role was predominantly to attract potential students through a diverse marketing campaign as well as to build relationships with local stakeholders.The college opened in January 2016 with 90 Year 11 students. I am particularly proud of retaining all but one student from the 10 month enrolment campaign which I achieved through a concerted community engagement focus. I believe that this model of schooling is extremely replicable and fills an enormous gap in senior school education for "hands on learners".
