Over the past forty years the practice of criminal defense has evolved as a greater part of our daily lives has been drawn into the scope of government regulation and oversight. The growth in the size of police interventions, criminal court dockets, areas of investigation as well as complexities developed for technical advancements in communication and storage of information via the internet, all demand experience and familiarity for competent representation.I have practiced in both federal and state courts during this time period. I helped protect the Florida constitutional homestead protection against state government seizure. More recently I successfully litigated the first attempt to prosecute individuals under the Patriot Act in USA v Al-Arian where a jury agreed that my client was not guilty on eleven counts. I have also had the opportunity to protect the rights and interests of both faculty and students of the University of Florida in administrative matters and NCAA investigations. I have appreciated the opportunity to represent good people under difficult circumstances.
