I taught full time Academic English to pre-university students enrolled in the Intensive English Program. Besides teaching English for Academic Purposes, I mentored other English instructors new to the program. Also, I worked as an adjunct for the AUK English Department teaching freshman English classes. In 2007 I became the Self Study Coordinator for IEP Accreditation. I have worked on several committees such as Library and Academic Policies, Professional Development, Accreditation Steering, and Portfolio Rubrics Articulation. In addition, I volunteered with the AUK Writing Centre.

I taught part time General English and Business English to mature students.

I administered the English as a Second Language teaching division at Ali Al-Sabah Military College. Duties included scheduling classes and tests, organising materials and test development, recording and reporting marks, liaising with senior Kuwaiti officers to ensure the client’s needs were being met, and liaising with IPETQ to ensure the teachers’ needs were being met. Other duties included administering ISO 9001 quality procedures and implementing improvements on existing quality procedures.

I was employed as an English instructor at the Saudi Arabian Texaco (S.A.T.) training centre to prepare employees for their external English proficiency exams (International English Language Test and The ALTE Referenced General English Test). All students in my classes achieved a pass on these externally marked exams. I also assisted in researching and reporting past student exam results and attendance.

I worked on a team that developed and taught English for Specific Purposes materials, courses and syllabi at the Kuwait Naval School. Courses and books that were developed included English for Basic and Advanced Seamanship, Naval Communications, Electricians, Mechanics, Gunnery, Navigation and Ships’ Operations. All these courses required detailed research, careful development and editing of the final product.

I worked (short-term contract) with First Nations adults who wished to complete their high school through independent learning. Duties included helping students with tutorials and correcting assignments. Administrative work included registering students, recording transcripts and acting as a guidance counselor.
