With my five-year experience as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school, my main responsibilities have included in-class support, one-to-one and small groups interventions (KS3 and KS4) for students with special educational needs and EHCPs. When supporting in a classroom environment, I would break down the instructions in order to clarify them; use differentiated resources adapted to individual needs (writing frames, sentence starters); prompt students to maintain their focus and reward them accordingly at the end of the lesson (achievement points, stickers); manage their behaviour using non-verbal cues. As for the one-to-one and small groups interventions, I would plan and deliver stimulating lessons to meet the students' needs; liaise with teachers to keep up-to-date with the topic taught. Having established a good working relationship with my students, I have gained their trust, which in turn has allowed me to find new ideas to improve my work. I am always thinking ahead for a better, more stimulating way to deliver lessons. I was a keyworker for several students. I have also written up reports and contributed in annual review meetings, and invigilated exams for students with access arrangements.
