My life has been like a series of chapters, each different than the one before. When working in the business world as a man in my 20's I managed inventory, shipping and receiving for a creamery. I usually oversaw a team of forklift operators who took care of daily production and shipments in addition to a logistics program that handled up to 1 million pounds of dairy goods weekly. I excelled at the job, but looked for a change. I went back to school to become a science teacher. My first position was 8th grade in the economically challenged Two Rivers School District. The first 4 years I would be laid off in spring and re-hired for the next year. My 5th year coincided with tremendous cuts in state school funding and I was immediately told I would not be back for a 6th year. I immediately invested in myself and started Steve Giese Photography and Yolo Booth photo booth rentals. During the next several years I photographed over 500 weddings and engagements. At the peak, I had 3 photographers and 4 photo booth operators. While photographing an engaged couple, I was asked by the man why I wasn't teaching and if I thought about getting back into it. I said I would consider it. Within 2 weeks I had started with the Howard-Suamico School District, where I taught until COVID hit and changed teaching forever. I found I had no student contact and the interactions online were not enough to keep my interest in the profession. Again, it seemed that I excelled at the job but was left looking for more.After resigning, I took the job of Project Manager at Gain Control where I was primarily a salesperson, but while managing accounts, I also managed each project. I liked the position and company, so I bought in as a co-owner in June of 2021. Though COVID still limits contact with potential customers, I work hard to build and maintain relationships with those we have. Things are going well, and we are continually expanding and improving. As of now, I am excelling at my job and for once, am not looking for more.
