    Responsible for the successful operation of the instrumentation department during the surveys. I also supervise and train other members in the department and appraise subordinates. Ultimately responsible for quality control of the data and equipment within the department, I ensure that standards and required upgrades / improvements are implemented across my department and I am required to maintain and cost control the on board inventory, spare part and purchase systems within the department to make sure that budgetary requirements were met. On a daily basis it is required that I liaise with other department chiefs and on-board client representative to ensure smooth operation for the duration of the survey.
