Working closely with the Scheduling, Finance, Contracts, Cost & Construction Management teams to ensure reporting to the PMT team was consistent and accurate; Preparing estimates and undertaking quantity verification’s  Ensuring Cost reporting inclusive of Earned value management (EVM) was timely and accurate Navigating commercial risks and complexities of construction contracts: interfaces, changes, errors, delays, defaults, non-performance, assessing impacts, negotiating and drafting changes and adjustments needed to keep projects on track Procurement: gaining market information, prequalification and establishing bidders list, preparing enquiry package, tendering, evaluation negotiation and approvals to commit. Providing regular schedule updates to monitor critical paths with work force planning in the way of 30, 60 & 90 day look ahead to construction manager

Sourced out of the Oil & Gas sector to be involved in the Mechanical & Electrical procurement for Wimbledon Court No1 re-development. All England Lawn Tennis Club’s Flagship development.Tasked with valuations of works, verification of quantities, producing robust estimates, negotiating work packages, compiling contracts, maintaining & revising the cash flow and assessing equipment packages as they arrive on site prior to installation. In addition to the No1 Court development I was involved in Wimbledon’s 2020 Masterplan a series of multi million pound developments around the estate.

Preparation of clients Class 2 estimate for the Shell Penguins sevan unit for operation in the North Sea. Utilizing the estimating software WinEst and Turner & Townsends in-house quantity control system QuanTTum. QuanTTum was used to extracting the quantities from the 3D model and place them within the estimating package WinEst.This included the creation of a robust unit rates database within the estimating system which was bench-marked against various other projects for accuracy .

Seconded to BP Jakarta in order to prepare three estimates for a FEED project utilising the WinEst estimating software. This included working as part of a client integrated team within a highly confidentially secure environment.Being tasked with the verification of the tendering contractors quantities and the creation of a unit rate database for allocation to each of the contractor MTO’s in order to build robust Estimate for the client to use in their tender analysis. QuanTTum and manual measures were used to verify the contractor’s quantities and also deliver a client’s MTO to which the contractors could be compared.

Engaging in a multi located team (USA and UK) undertaking a verification of the contractors MTO, by manually measuring large areas of the facility, quantifying the design information and comparing this with the MTO and other benchmarking LNG facility in order to highlighting any anomalies for further investigation and allowances.On completion of the MTO verification, Identifying and applying suitable material and labour norms within the WinEst estimating software package to enable a robust project estimate to be produced was undertaken. This resulted in a highly robust AACE Class 2 (Target accuracy +/- 15%) estimate in line with the client’s requirement. Further to the above task it was requested that a Stick Built estimate be compiled. This required manipulating the Modular estimate within WinEst to account for the differences in quantities, schedules, costs, manning, and further indirect’s that come from a Stick Build methodology.Involved in estimate presentations to the Client in order to answer any query’s the client had on the Quantities, build-up of the estimates unit rates and productivities thus giving the client a full understanding of the estimate.

Involved in a review and verification of three contractors preliminary FEED quantities, located within the client’s office in London and working as part of an integrated estimating team consisting of personnel from both Eni and Turner & Townsend.Engaged as the leading role within the review and verification of the piping, painting, insulation and structural steel disciplines for the three contractors while working under the project director and project lead.Implementing Winest Estimating software to apply unit, material and labour rates to each of the contractors’ quantities in order to produce various cost estimates for the client to compare either using contractor’s quantities or the Turner & Townsend recommended quantities.

Involved in producing a FID (AACE Class 2) estimate for FLNG leading into FEED. Responsible for piping, insulation and painting quantification and production of pricing and norm datebook’s across all engineering disciplines.

Involved the full measure of off-plot works for the Rabab Harweel facility with focus on piping works. Created and issued pricing documents that aligned with client requirements.

Engaged on the largest single contract in Turner & Townsend Energy UK, working as part of a multi-national team undertaking the FEED stage measurement of the on-plot scope for a new integrated oil and sour gas facility. Utilising Turner & Townsend’s leading edge 3D technology, QuanTTum, supported in providing the full measure of the facility, engaging in a contract strategy which is based on bills of quantities.

Prepared full mechanical pipework re-measurement using Turner & Townsend’s proprietary software system, in addition to manual measurement of those items not identified in the engineering model or identified as defective works on isometric drawings.Fully cost mechanical pipework system re-measurement and prepare cost reports comparing the total value of work done against the contract and amounts paid to date via approved valuations.Assisted in the development of costing system based around the QuanTTum cost and scope control tool.

Studied a HND in Nautical Engineering in the merchant navy as an engineering cadet specialising as an Electric Technical Officer (ETO). The first six months concentrated on practical and theoretical educational training in South Tyneside College, learning practical skills such as welding and also covering theoretical topics involving the electrical, technical and mechanical engineering of vessels and their characteristics. This involved advanced maths for calculating buoyancy and electrical loads etc. In addition to gaining a HND in Nautical Engineering a period of two years was spent rotating on and off a number of deep sea and stand by vessels working alongside the chief and 2nd engineers assisting in the planned maintenance, repair and overhaul activities on board. Learning and gaining a great deal of vital practical experience in routines and schedules in piping, engineering, electrical and offloading disciplines.This practical and theoretical experience has been invaluable when working on the oil and gas projects. Furthermore, safety on board ship is a vital skill to be acquired and one which will also be applicable to quantity surveying when visiting sites etc.
