The Appointments Commission held responsibility for managing recruitment campaigns for public appointments of a number of high-profile roles. These included Chair and Non-Executive Director appointments to a range of NHS, Department of Health and public bodies. The Client Services team focused on recruitment and training delivery specifically to Foundation Trusts and other government departments.Responsibilities included strategic and operational management of a range of activities aimed at raising awareness and improving diversity and equality of under-represented groups on Boards. Developed networks with a wide range of diversity groups; professional networks such as IoD, ICAEW; Foundation Trusts; Healthcare Regulatory Bodies and FTSE250 companies.Overall project and individual campaign management of over 200 Chair and Non-Executive appointments to nine UK healthcare regulatory bodies (such as General Medical Council) within 14 months.

The Motorsport Academy was a new initiative, partially government funded, to provide a range of information and services to the UK Motorsport and High Performance Engineering sector. At this time, the Industry employed approx 40000 workers in 4000 companies, with an annual sector turnover of approx £5 billion.Initially developed a business plan to meet agreed contract objectives, then designed, set up, launched and commercially marketed all services, managing third party providers where applicable. Responsibilities also included managing budgeted expenditure and commercial income. Services comprised (not exhaustive): o Recruitment agency and online jobs board o Online HR resources and a Legal and HR Helpline o Outplacement services (100% success rate of redeployment within 3 months) o Careers advice to individuals - direct and via events/exhibitions o Generalist advice to employers covering Employment Legislation, Recruitment and Workforce planning, Learning and Development

Joined the team to assist with the launch of the Volkswagen Academy to the retail network, aimed at support the network with resource management and recruitment activity. Responsible for 20 sites regionally, worked with Retailer Management teams to improve their business results through maximising performance of their people through various initiatives.Promoted in March 2004 into a newly created Regional Manager role responsible for managing, supporting and developing a team of 8 field-based Consultants across approx 150 Volkswagen retailers in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Recruited as part of pre-opening Management team of 3 to provide full support to General Manager, taking responsibility in his absence to prepare for opening of a new 4* hotel in May 2002. Early duties involved volume recruitment through events such as open days, exhibitions and assisting with recruitment of Heads of Department and planning, developing and implementing supporting systems and processes.

Joined at point of acquisition of Volkswagen Audi franchise in Leeds. Role involved implementation of personnel and administration processes and evolved to include operational responsility for personnel, Training and Development, Quality Management initiatives.Also set up and managed customer care/retailer support centre with 11 team members - improved customer satisfaction rating by 18% in Service, 10% in Sales in 3 months In 2001, I was awarded a ‘Volkswagen Gold Pin’, which recognises “outstanding contribution towards the Volkswagen brand”.
