Creativity and curiosity drive my every process. As a writer and editor, I focus on audience-tailored content that tells a story in an original voice. Having taught writing for years, I feel strongly about the power of quality wordcrafting. I provide feedback that results in technical correctness in terms of grammar and style, while also reflecting a strong personality and tailored tone.--As an educator, I believe that learning expands more than knowledge base. At it’s most effective, learning opens up the ability to think critically and the desire to understand points-of-view beyond our own. This is the most essential aspect of education in an increasingly echo-chamber enclosed world. Language is beauty and art. It can touch hearts and minds. But it is also practical; it preserves cultures, advances social causes, and gets someone hired for a job. Each student’s needs determine their learning, so pedagogy should allow flexibility suited to the rhetorical purpose.I feel strongly about interacting with students through a ‘feed-forward’ rather than feedback approach - wherein all elements relate in order to benefit the student toward future endeavors. More than task oriented, top-down teaching, relevance must be prioritized.Everything around me in my life is fodder for rhetorical analysis, and I tend to get enthusiastic about topics of all levels of minutae. It amuses my students that I can become just as passionate about semi-colons as I do about politics, current issues, sports, or the newest discovered species of insect.--In my "spare" time, I craft, sew - particularly costumes & cosplay, and dabble in photography & photoshop. I love to create, regardless of medium, and consider myself a very amateur Maker. The fewer Pinterest tutorials exist, the more fun the project! I love to get inside an impossible creative endeavor and improvise and experiment through to a solution. Though I enjoy teaching and writing, my dream job would be as a Disney Imagineer. --Living in the incomparable landscape of Utah, it is impossible not to love the outdoors. Our family spends much of our summer camping, hiking, and paddle boarding. Being in the wild is extremely important to me.
