I recruited, managed and developed a team of 5 support technicians providing all aspects of 1st,2nd and 3rd line user and LAN/server infrastructure support. We supported 500 users across 23 sites in the UK, India and France looking after:-As part of the global IT team, we also had to provide infrastructure support for over 200 sites across the Europe, Middle East and Africa. Many of these sites were GLP (good laboratory practice) and GMP (good manufacturing practice) regulated which meant that I had to undergo the relevant training and examination.Being part of a global IT team meant that part of my role was to integrate acquisitions into the larger organisation. This was achieved by auditing each companies systems and planning and migrating their existing server and desktop hardware & business systems into the Intertek domain, aligning them within the business and to the ITIL framework.Over a 4 year period, I personally migrated and integrated 8 acquired companies with over 1120 users between them.Server and network standardisation and consolidation was introduced globally to both help improve the service to our internal and external customers and to also help drive cost reductions by purchasing from one supplier in bulk and increase efficiencies. These projects were aligned to Prince2 methodologies.I delivered and supported a bespoke business LIMS SQL database system written in C++ which saved the company at least £4200 per day, reducing the workforce and freeing up other members of staff, allowing them to take on additional tasks to their current roles. The LIMS system was used on 2 sites and had over 200 simultaneous active users at any one time.The LIMS system was also used by the Business Development managers as a selling tool as clients and retailers were able to log in online via its Datalink web portal to view test certificates and to run statistical reports.

Responsibilities included:Designing and implemented a Wide Area Network capable of servicing 12 sites across the Northwest using a variety of connectivity measures ensuring that information was available at all times. I also solely had to maintain and repair all of the IT equipment at these sites.I was engaged in the development of the Sage Line 100 Unix accounting system from the design, writing through testing and rollout. I also trained over 400 users’ companywide in Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order Processing, and Stock Control, Inter mill transfers, picking lists and bill of materials. A Personnel Database Program was another of the high profile projects which I had to design, build and implement. Some of the modules included: absence management, wage control, absence reporting, personal and banking data. The software securely held the details of over 1000 employees.Label printing software was another project which I successfully wrote and implemented. The software had to print various barcodes and labels from a database of over 180000 stock codes which was linked to the accounts system. The production of in-house barcodes and labels saved the company considerable expense and time as every item had to be properly labelled.12 Label printing staff and 12 data inputters reported directly to me as well as over 400 other staff looking solely to me for computer guidance and assistance.
