My daily work revolved around maintaining several cloud based Java web applications. Work was feature driven, split into user stories and targeted for two week sprint cycles. I'd take feature specs and build JAX-RS RESTful APIs and services. In addition, I also worked on the core application code and maintained shared libraries for application health monitoring, logging and events.My other responsibility was Docker orchestration of applications using Compose. I've helped transition the dev-test environment to Docker which improved the time spent setting up a local environment and made the development experience more like production. I've also maintained a private Docker image registry which host several hundred images shared between teams.I've also worked on a team focused on quickly addressing customer feature requests and issues. I've gained experience with front-end application development using AngularJS creating controllers and services. I've also worked on Angular models and custom directives as a part of an internal tool-kit to provide html components for UI developers reuse. In addition, I've helped review user experience designs.On the opposite side of the stack I've worked on creating new data-models for CassandraDB and have a certification from Datastax for Java Development with Apache Cassandra. I have less experience with PostgreSQL but I am still familiar with SQL and have created tables, worked with stored procedures and implemented DAOs to interact with the database using the Java JDBC driver.Code is source controlled and reviewed using GIT/GERRIT. I am also familiar with building jobs in Jenkins and have created custom plugins for the Docker ecosystem.I also use tools such as JIRA for tracking issues and RALLY for user story and feature work.Finally, because applications are deployed in a cloud I have become familiar with tools like KIBANA for logging and creating dashboards to help triage issues. PAGERDUTY and JIRA as well.
